And, as the vector goes around and around, you could see that the projection on the y axis is bobbing up and down and up and down. Thats the projection of the tip of the green arrow onto the y axis. Placing an image into a shape: not sure about the wave. And, in the dotted line here and that yellow dot going up and down, thats the projection. If you need more control, you might want to draw the wave in Illustrator and copy that into ID - you can copy any path from Illy. Take time to practice drawing 3D forms if this feels really challenging to you because that is the foundational skill in representative art. Waves: select the pen tool and draw waves one segment at a time. One thing to keep in mind when drawing hair is that it’s defining the large forms and adding the strands in that is the difficult part. Feel free to skip this step if you want to only focus on the base forms before getting into shading Keep adding more hairs until the large forms are filled outĪdd loose strands of hair, I like adding some strands around the ears and over the top of the forehead as I have done in the example image.Īdd shading and rendering to the hair. Make sure to add extra waves and curls towards the tips of the hair Start adding in strands of curving hairs. Understanding how the hair sits in 3D space is very useful when drawing semi-realistic to realistic art.
